FAQs
Small Group Fitness knows that there are difficult decisions when trying to decide on what will best suit your needs. We believe it’s important to be informed with what we can offer you. Here we have provided answers to our most frequently asked questions to assist you.
Q: How awesome is small group fitness?
A: Thanks for asking, SGF is pretty awesome. The concept here is new, well structured, and extremely effective. Because the approach we take is so new and nontraditional, some people may be intimated while others will definitely be excited. Either way we want EVERYBODY to come and check it out! It is NEW, it is EXCITING, it is what you've been waiting for. You will do things here you have never done before, and you'll do things here you never thought you could do.
Q: Why is training in small groups so awesome?
A: Training in small groups is awesome because it allows you to still get professional instruction and attention, without the traditional one on one fee. More specifically at SGF, our small groups will be utilizing all of the industries latest and greatest fitness equipment and strategery.
Q: What if I want DON'T want to train in a small group, is there still a way for me to be awesome?
A:Yes of course. SGF also offers One On One Personal Training and Bootcamps with a maximum of 10 people.
Q: What if I am not familiar with any of the equipment utilized at SGF?
A: Great! SGF is a place where you can come and not only get a good workout but also an education in exercise. SGF will have classes specifically for beginners. These classes will be more instructional and slower paced in order for you to learn the proper way to exercise. Also to make sure you don't do too much you're not physically ready for; we want you to be able to move the next day and enjoy your exercise.
Q: What if I go to the gym a lot?
A: That's great too! SGF is a place where anyone of any fitness level can come and be challenged. We will also have classes for more advanced individuals. These classes will move faster and incorporate more forms of exercise in a class. The advanced classes will be forever changing. The aim is to never let the body adapt, keeping taxing it differently. However, keep in mind that even the avid gym attendee will be a beginner in some of the modalities of exercise utilized at SGF.
Q: How long are the Small Group Personal Training Sessions?
A:The sessions are no longer than 50 minutes. Depending on the type of session, the intensity, the people in the session...will dictate how long the session will last but they're never longer than 50 minutes.
Q:What if only one person signs up for a Small Group Personal Training Session?
A:If only one person signs up SGF does NOT cancel the session like many gyms that do small group training, the session just becomes a 30 minute one-on-one session.
*SGF reserves the right to change the schedule without notice to try and ensure all sessions are in-fact small group sessions.
Q: What if the session I want is full?
A:SGF only allows four people in a session so sometimes they will fill up. However SGF will have availability in other sessions that day and throughout the week.
Q: What types of memberships does SGF have?
A:SGF has a few different types of memberships. Visit the "Contact Us" page to see the pricing.
Q: What happens if I miss a week if I'm on the 3 times a week plan? Can I make those sessions up?
A:If you miss a week or do not come in 3 times in a week you do NOT roll those sessions over into the following week or month. You CANNOT make those sessions up.
Q: Does SGF have contracts?
A:SGF does not have contracts. Cancel and re-enroll whenever you'd like.
Q: Does SGF have an attendance/cancellation policy?
A:Yes. There is a 24 hour cancellation notice. If you do not cancel within 24 hours you will either forfeit your session or be charged $25 depending on your membership. The policy is to be fair to ALL members of SGF so that everyone has an equal and fair chance of scheduling into a session but also to ensure that you use your sessoins. The only way we can get you in shape is to make sure you come to your sessions! The policy is in its entirety in the SGF intake packet that everyone must read and sign prior to joining their first Small Group Personal Training Session and goes for Personal Training, Nutrition Consultation and Muscle Activation Techniques sessions.
Q: What if I show up late?
A:All Small Group Personal Training Sessions start on-time and do NOT wait for everyone to show-up. SGF understands that sometimes things arise on the ride over to the gym. We give a 10 minute window for people to show up late. However, if you show up 10 minutes or later will not be able to join the session and you will either be charged $25 or forfeit your session depending on your membership. If you do show-up late it is up to you to go throught the ENTIRE movement preparation regimen. The policy is in its entirety in the SGF intake packet that everyone must read and sign prior to joining their first Small Group Personal Training Session and goes for Personal Training, Nutrition Consultation and Muscle Activation Techniques sessions.
Q: What happens if my payment is late or my credit card is declined?
A:All payments must be made on-time. If your credit card is declined then you will be charged $10 for the decline and $10 a day until your payment is brought current. Unfortunately SGF gets charged late fees when it makes its bill payments late as well.
Q: What happens if SGF cancels a session with less than 24 hours notice?
A:If SGF cancels a Small Group Personal Training Session with less than 24 hours notice then you will either be credited $25 dollars or a session depending on your membership. Goes for Personal Training, Nutrition Consultations, and Muscle Activation Techniques Sessions as well.
*In order for a session to be "cancelled", first someone must be scheduled into the session. Removing an empty session that nobody is in does not count as a "cancel".
Q: SGF has Beginner, non-Beginner and Advanced sessions. How do I know which one is for me?
A:If you have never had any experience with the type of exercise you are scheduling yourself into, then you're a beginner. There is a way to do everything and in Beginner sessions we go over more of the basics of each modality of exercise and there is more instruction. If you're familar and been taught previously then you can come into a non-Beginner session.
Q: Well, won't the Beginner session be a little too easy? Ya know, I wanna get a good workout!
A:SGF is all about "good workouts". Think how good your workout will be when you actually know what you're doing! Beginner does not mean "easy".
Q: Well I'm no Beginner!
A:Ok, well if you move into a session that is above your ability level, just do the best you can. The instruction, tempo, structure... will not change just because you're in a session you do not belong in, even if you're the only person in the session. SGF has Beginner, non-Beginner and Advanced sessions for a reason. If you do not wish to use them, that is your choice.
Q: How do I schedule?
A:All scheduling is done online via SMALLGROUPFIT.COM. Each member receives a USERNAME and PASSWORD which allows them to access the schedule and book themselves into whichever Small Group Personal Training Session they'd like.
Q: I want to workout with my friend(s), how do I do that?
A:That's great you want to workout with your friend(s). If you and your friend(s) are able to schedule yourselves into the same Small Group Personal Training Session that's great, however it is not guaranteed. SGF does offer Specific Small Group Training, just like Personal Training, and if working out with your friend(s) is that important to you that is something maybe you should look into. One of the very cool things about SGF is that you will meet people that workout here and they will become your friends as well. When you schedule yourself you can actually see the names of the people in the session and be able to join Small Group Personal Training Sessions with people you know and like.
